Scare up some fun for party guests this Halloween with ghoulish games and traditional holiday pastimes. Little goblins will be in for an eerie delight with these creatively spooky Halloween party activities.
Gruesome Games
One of Halloween's most popular party pastimes is to fill bowls with different types of foods that feel like certain body parts. Cold spaghetti is usually the food of choice to represent the intestines, and peeled grapes make suitable eyeballs. Blindfolded party guests then try to guess what body parts they think they are sticking their hands into, in this gruesome party game.
- Guess the Anatomy - For this traditional Halloween party game, place the following foods in separate bowls:
- peeled tomato (heart)
- cooked cold spaghetti (intestines)
- two dried apricot slices (ears)
- pumpkin innards (guts)
- two peeled grapes (eyeballs)
- Zombie Autopsy - For a twist on the traditional Guess the Anatomy game, place a white sheet or plastic tablecloth on a long rectangular table and arrange the following items on top of the sheet to resemble a zombie's body:
- zombie mask (head)
- rectangular block of tofu (neck)
- butternut squash halved lengthwise (shoulders and arms)
- 2 water chestnuts (elbows)
- smaller butternut squash halved lengthwise (forearms)
- two latex gloves filled with water (hands)
- rhubarb pieces (collar bone & ribs)
- peeled tomato (heart)
- cold cooked spaghetti noodles (intestines)
- red Jello (guts)
- halved loaf of French bread (thighs)
- halved turnip (knees)
- halved French baguette (shins)
- 2 gourds (feet)
- 10 soybeans or Lima beans (toes)
Games for Little Goblins
Here are a few simple games for younger party guests to enjoy. These games are great choices for children between the ages of 3-8.
- Eyeball Toss - Party guests can take turns trying to toss a ping pong ball, painted like an eyeball, into a jack-o-lantern with the lid off. Each player gets three tosses and the player with the most successful amount of tosses wins.
- Worm Eating Contest - Set enough plates on the table for each guest. Place one gummy worm on each plate. Have guests keep their hands behind their back, and say, "On your mark, get set, go." The guest who eats their gummy worm first wins.
- Bone-yard Scavenger Hunt - Hide several plastic skeleton bones around the yard or party venue. Have party guests go and look for the bones. The guest who finds the most bones wins.
These games can also be adapted for older kids. To make the Eyeball Toss game more challenging, increase the distance from where the guests will toss the ping pong ball into the jack-o-lantern, or have guests toss the ping pong ball while blindfolded.
All these Halloween party games can be modified to suit whatever theme the party may have. The Zombie Autopsy can easily be changes to an alien or monster autopsy simply by changing the mask. With a little creativity and imagination, these festive party games can help to make this Halloween wickedly wonderful.
